I started creating replacement parts for Hornby OO railway model trains and buildings, you know the bits that get broken or lost - drainpipes, windows, carriage couplings
with a filament 3d printer and progressed to making horses, storage containers and tractors for model railway layouts using a either a filament or resin printer based on which 3d printing method gave the best result.
Over time I have printed lager pieces, busts, planters, animals and rockets plus tools for wool spinners, crocheters and sock knitters, click on the My Work link to see better what I do
Hi, I'm Allan.
I first started 3d printing when ill health had already made full time work no longer possible for me.
It was a hobby just to reproduce missing parts for Hornby Dublo products on a small 3d printer.
When Covid stared I had just upgraded to a larger 3d printer and was able to contribute by printing PPE masks for local care homes and businesses.
Over time I have, at my own pace, learnt the ins and outs of my printers and discovered which software and design programs work well for me, all this has made it possible for me to be able to help out printing items for hobbyists and fundraisers.
Where do I begin - just head for the Gallery, somethings were printed just because I wanted to see how they would turn out whilst other items came into being thanks to customer suggestions or were specific commission requests.
The hardest part is often getting the exact colour, especially for replacement model railway layouts, but I do carry out extensive test prints to get as near as possible.
I often include one or two additional parts free of charge, just in case you break or loose a part when fixing parts into position. Please see my eBay page for more details.
